Mourning...Again

Michael Ferro

I sow the evening star, deep inside her heart
Even by warm winds, the cold will not depart
From love, or longing

Why must I walk the path made by man
When sweeter the trail of my passion
Why does it rain down on my soul
When all that is needed is here in this room

Portents of solitude

If the earth opened up and swallowed us whole
It would be like the fire of ten thousand sunrises

The hillside grows dark,
a mourning dove a calls,
the last breath of day fills the air

We’re fawning the fool
and pawning the chance that no one else will take
When will it end, when all has been said?

Fragmented, fractured, a structured retreat
To marry the cause and bury the soul

If the earth opened up and swallowed us whole
It would be like the fire of ten thousand sunrises
